RECIPE: Superfood Waffles
We are back at it again with another waffle recipe. This time we are featuring superfoods. They are foods that are nutritionally dense. Not only do they provide you with an abundance of vitamins and minerals. They also provide improved health, prevent disease, and often have anti-aging qualities. This recipe has 4 superfoods, cacao, shilajit, maca, and ashwagandha.
Cacao Powder is an antioxidant with health benefits ranging from reducing tiredness and fatigue to improving heart health, cognitive function, and regulating blood pressure.
Shilajit is a natural substance found mainly in the Himalayas, formed for centuries by the gradual decomposition of certain plants by the action of microorganisms. It is known for restoring energetic balance and prevents several diseases.
Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that supports the ability of an organism to cope with stress and thereby conserve energy. Ashwagandha rejuvenates and tonifies the entire system, especially the endocrine and immune systems.
Maca contributes to overall well-being, it can balance hormone levels, boost energy, and support a healthy libido.
Super Waffles
2.5 TBSp Cacao
1 Tbsp Almond butter
1 Tbsp Coconut Oil
1 C of Flour
1 TBSp Baking Soda
1/4 Tsp Salt
¼ Tsp Shilajit (optional)
1.5 Tsp Maca Powder (optional)
2 Tsp Ashwagandha (optional)
1 Tsp Cinnamon
2 TBs Agave
1.5 C Plant-Based Milk
Instructions
- Heat up the waffle iron
- Whisk together the dry ingredients. Add the wet ingredients and allow to rise for a few minutes while your waffle iron heats up.
- Brush the waffle iron with a little oil. Put the batter in the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions. My waffle maker takes about 3-5 minutes warm
- Serve waffles topped with cacao syrup (equal part cacao powder, agave, coconut), strawberries, and maple syrup or agave.
